Italy!! - Verona & Florence

After a fun filled day in Venice we went back to the hotel and had dinner and crashed.  The next morning we loaded on our buses and headed out to Verona.  Verona is famous for Juliet's balcony (of Romeo and Juliet).  They have a beautiful colesseum that we saw right away then ventured into town where we visited the "Club di Giulietta".

Katie and Olivia were very persistent about putting mascara on Mr. Haley because he has such pretty eyes.  He was such a good sport about it and made sure he got a large gelato out of the deal.

On our way to Florence, our bus got a flat tire.  The bus driver did a fantastic job of getting us to the side of the road but it took 1 1/2 hours to get the tire changed, including waiting for the AAA people that were supposed to help.  We had planned to head to Pisa for a short trip but weren't able to.

Our very charming and quaint room in Florence.  We were basically in the attic (no windows except for a small sky light above the room.
This is the kind of room I was expecting to find in Italy.

Getting into Florence in the evening, we checked into our hotel then left for dinner.  We walked to a old jail that had been converted into a restaurant.

Florence at night... It was absolutely impressive.  I felt like I was walking into a Hollywood set because the Duomo is so well lit and so enormous.

The statue of David... this is the "fake" one outside the museum but the only one we saw since we didn't venture into the museum.

A charming little restaurant (and menu) and another gelato stand.

The Ponte Vecchio bridge in Florence is home to MANY jewelry stores.

We couldn't come to Italy and not do some wine tasting... a bonus was the olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting that was included with the wine... Yum!!

The girls - after a shopping to trip to the local H&M store.

The WHOLE group.  What a fun bunch of kids!!
